Travel + Fun

Make a weekend of it on the Garden Island — where to ride, rent, eat, and stay.

Monday After the Race

The Monday group ride

Enjoy an informal group ride along the island’s east side and coastal path to the Kilauea overlook — 40 miles out-and-back with shorter options, and a smoothie stop.

Meet at Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua, 8:30 am, Monday, May 31, 2027. For details, email p2mKauai@gmail.com.

The Essentials

Rent, eat & refuel

Rent

Rent a bike

KauaiRoadBikeRentals.com — rentals include helmet, lock, and flat kit. Bring your own clip-in pedals; supplies are limited.

Eat

Kalaheo Café

Owned by cycling chef John Ferguson, Kalaheo Café is where racers gather to carbo-load the night before. Great coffee, smoothies, and ono grinds — midway between Lihuʻe and Kekaha.

Refuel

Kokeʻe Lodge

At the top, Kokeʻe Lodge serves chili & cornbread, burgers, local favorites, and adult bevs at the Koa Bar — overlooking the meadow and the finish line. (808) 335-6061

Where to Stay

Sleep near the start — or the finish

Westside (near the start)

Up top (near the finish)

  • Cabins at Kokeʻe — State-owned cabins managed by Kokeʻe Lodge, steps from the finish line
  • Historic CCC Camp — inexpensive dorm-style barracks from the 1930s, by the finish. Great for teams on a budget; join Hui o Laka / Kokeʻe Museum to reserve. (808) 335-9975
